  2.                     SERVICES AND OFFERS FROM MEGADISC
  3.                     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  5.      As many of you have realised by now, MEGADISC is committed to
  6.      providing a good, low-cost information service for the Amiga community.
  7.      This magazine is the flagship of our effort, but we are keen to expand
  8.      our services, and this depends primarily on you buying the disc, so
  9.      that we can continue our efforts.  Services already available are:
  10.  
  11.    1. Copies of the entire Fish Disk library, along with other public domain
  12.       discs (eg. AMICUS Discs 1-22) and a variety of software sent to us by
  13.       our local and overseas contacts. All discs cost $6.50, P&P included.
  14.       These include -
  15.             * Dave Wecker's RAY-TRACING PROGRAM, which creates graphics
  16.               such as were used for the "Juggler" animation demo, with
  17.               RAY-TRACE PICTURES set up for instant viewing.
  18.             * JUGGLER animation demo, along with the famous CAT DEMO.
  19.             * Two discs devoted to TRUE BASIC with a large number of demo
  20.               programs and docs.
  21.             * Perry Papadopoulos's "Trip to Mars" full-disc animation, a
  22.               short section of which was on MEGADISC1.
  23.             * A number of ART DISCS by local artists.
  24.             * A Mandelbrot Slideshow from Richard Hansen - good graphics
  25.  
  26.       Also available is a Catalogue on disc for the Fish Disk series, worth
  27.       getting so that you can browse through at will and decide which of
  28.       the 102 now available you'd like to get (also $6.50).

  30.    2. We have prepared some "Theme Discs" of Public Domain software, and
  31.       there will be more available according to demand, so tell us what
  32.       you'd like to have. Anyone with their own contribution to the list is
  33.       welcome to send it in for inclusion.  Currently available are:
  34.  
  35.          * ATERM 7.3 - set up on a bootable disc for instant use, along with
  36.            phone numbers of the BBS's of interest to Amiga Users.
  37.          * GRAPHICS DEMOS #1- a collection of the best graphics demo programs
  38.            written for the Amiga.
  39.          * A FONTS disc, with dozens of Public Domain fonts, documents,
  40.            how-to articles, etc.  Jazz up your screen and printed output.
  41.          * MANDELBROT SET EXPLORER with original graphics (& slideshow) such
  42.            as you can see in the ArtGallery on MEGADISC2.  Mostly unexplored
  43.            territory, and beautiful too.
  44.          * PAGESETTER demo - see if you want to buy these
  45.            excellent programs.
  46.          * AEGIS DRAW DEMO - only the "SAVE" option is disabled.
  47.          * AMIGABASIC programs disc - all kinds of things.
  48.          * ABASIC programs disc - this contains the Basic originally packaged
  49.            with the Amiga, and many good programs written using it.
  50.          * SHOP DEMO ANIMATION - a long, and colourful animation prepared as
  51.            a demo for the capabilities of the Amiga.
  52.          * ABASIC GAMES DISC - Contains 4 excellent games by David Addison:
  53.            Cribbage, Backgammon, Othello, and Solitaire.
  54.          * CASA AMIGA DISK #2 - with XLISP and a lot of useful utilities.
  55.          * CASA AMIGA DISK #3 - with MVP-FORTH, some fonts, and utilities.
  56.          * B.E.S.T. Accountancy program demo.
  57.          * CAR DRIVING TUTORIAL - A Talking slide-show to explain more
  58.            about your car.
  59.          * P.C.L.O. DESIGN BOARD demo - aid in designing circuit diagrams.
  60.          * GRAPHICS UTILITIES - A number of utilities from public domain.
  61.          * GRAPHIC TRICKS - a bunch of little programs.
  62.          * DIGITIZED PICTURES - a number of discs containing pictures NOT

  68.    3. BACK ISSUES: if this is your first copy of MEGADISC, take a look at
  69.       "MD123.Index" in this drawer, which briefly describes the
  70.       contents of the first 3 discs, all indispensable to the Amiga User!

  93.    5. CONSULTANCY AND TRAINING - It has become increasingly obvious 
  94.       that many Amiga Users are computer novices or are coming to the
  95.       Amiga from a primitive system, and need further explanations, training,
  96.       and so forth.  Others can see the possibilities of the machine in
  97.       various areas, like Desktop Publishing or Video, but are unsure of how
  98.       to integrate and use the system for these purposes. So we have decided
  99.       to offer further services in the form of Training and Consultancy,
  100.       so if you think you'd benefit from them, please enquire by letter
  101.       to our address, or phone Tim (02) 959 3692. We are also running a
  102.       service for DeskTop Publishing with output on either an Apple 
  103.       LaserWriter Plus or a Linotronic, and can train people to do the 
  104.       same for themselves.

  106.    6. "The Diskdoctor" - ring MegaDisc for details (959 3692).
  107.                          He has developed a 5.25" disk drive for only
  108.                          $350.  It behaves just like a normal Amiga 3.5"
  109.                          disk drive (so no need for PCUtilities, or 
  110.                          DOS-to-DOS software).  Simply connected to the 
  111.                          Amiga 1000, and useful for using the much cheaper
  112.                          5.25" floppy disks as a means of storing data, etc.
  113.                          This gentleman will also fix any Amiga with PLA
  114.                          (Programmable Logic Arrays) which will not handle
  115.                          expansion RAM - this seems to happen to about
  116.                          10% of Amigas. His charge is $85 for parts and
  117.                          work, and the Amiga must be delivered and picked
  118.                          up. He's also got 3.5" disk drives, 880K, which 
  119.                          are a lot smaller than the usual drives.
